Much of the church in the UK and overseas will be praying ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ (using the prayers set out below or any other prayer that you might think appropriate) during the period from Ascension Day (this Thursday) to Pentecost (Sunday 20th May).  In Itchen Valley Parish we will be committing to pray at 12noon on each of the days from Ascension to Pentecost and also walking together to pray around the Parish.  This is how you can get involved.

Novena Prayer Please do pray at 12 noon for 9 days of the Novena which starts on Thursday 10th May until Pentecost on Sunday 20th May.

On Wednesday 16th May at St Mary’s Easton when we will be walking through Easton and Martyr Worthy

Thy Kingdom Come prayers

Almighty God,
your ascended Son has sent us into the world
to preach the good news of your kingdom:
inspire us with your Spirit
and fill our hearts with the fire of your love,
that all who hear your Word
may be drawn to you,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen

God of our salvation,
hope of all the ends of the earth, we pray:
That the world may know Jesus Christ
as the Prince of Peace,
That we may be bold to speak the word of God
while you stretch out your hand to save,
That the Church may be generous in giving,
faithful in serving, bold in proclaiming,
That the day may come when every knee shall bow
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,

Loving Father,
in the face of Jesus Christ
your light and glory have blazed forth.
Send your Holy Spirit that I may share with [here, name the people you would like to pray for] the life of your Son and your love for all.
