Our ad hoc chamberchoir performs periodically for occasional services and special events. The group has most recently performed Stainer’s Crucifixion at St Mary’s Easton on Good Friday 2014 and Faure’s Requiem on Remembrance Sunday 2014. In 2016 the Queen’s birthday was celebrated in the Itchen Valley with a special service on Sunday 12th June. Musically, we marked this occasion with a performance of a festive setting of Psalm 150 and Parry’s wonderful anthem “I was glad”.
This year we are putting on a performance to mark the end of World War I.
The choir is being led by Tim Tyler. He has organised music groups in churches and secular ones for some years. He is also being supported in the administration of the group and in selection of music by Olivia Shields.
There will be probably be three rehearsals for the service:
- The first 2 or 3 weeks before the service 24th October (evening)
- The second rehearsal, in the week of the service 7th November (evening)
- The third rehearsal would be on the day and immediately before the service 11th November (Afternoon)
