Christmas Services in the Itchen Valley

Singing carols together is at the heart of Christmas. So, in this Covid-affected season, we want to ensure we can keep singing carols together but as safely as possible.

Out of doors events:  There will be opportunities for some carol singing outside:

  • in the garden of the Plough, Itchen Abbas, on Tuesday 21st at 6.30pm;
  • outside St Swithun’s Church, Martyr Worthy, on Wednesday 22nd at 6.00pm;
  • outside the Cricketers, Easton, on Wednesday 22nd at 6.45pm.

Indoor Church services: For all indoor services we are asking everyone to book in advance by contacting Beccy on admin@itchenvalleychurchers.org. People will be asked to sit in household ‘bubbles’, with churches each operating at 2/3rds capacity.

As per Government guidelines for places of worship the wearing of face masks is mandatory.

There will now be an extra Crib service on Christmas Eve in Easton: the first at 3.00pm, the second at 4.30pm. To avoid disappointment, please book early.  The 4.30pm service will also be available to join on Zoom should you wish to.

Whatever the weather, to ensure good ventilation the doors of the church will be open, at least ajar, so please dress accordingly.

On the day, please consider coming on foot, if you can, to avoid car parking difficulties in Church Lane. Alternatively ask your friends in Easton if you might park in their driveways.

At all our services over Christmas we shall be collecting for our Christmas Charities (Winchester Basics Bank, Trinity, Winchester Beacon and the Children’s Society).  If you would care to donate to these most worthy causes now, rather with cash in church, here is a link that will enable you to do so.

We hope these arrangements will help make it possible for as many as wish to do so to join in some enjoyable carol-singing. After the last two years, how good it will be to have some strong reminders of the joys of the traditional Christmas season.
