It was great to be able to gather on Easter Sunday to celebrate the historic reality that is the bedrock of our faith: God’s raising of Jesus from the grave.
And also to welcome many visitors who joined us for worship—at each of our three services.
At St Swithun’s the Easter-egg hunt may have been a highlight for some but, for many others, it was the moment when the Rector nearly caught fire whilst using his hands rather too much when close by the pulpit candles! You can listen out for the congregation’s gasp in the sermon’s recording here:
A big ‘thank you’ to everyone who played a part in the magnificent Way of the Cross on Good Friday. I now understand why it is such a valued event in the Itchen Valley calendar.
And perhaps a special ‘thank you’ to Simon Ffennell, if I may, for all his work behind the scenes—enabling no less than 5 services to take place so smoothly at St Swithun’s within the last 8 days.
Let’s now enjoy the 40 days of this glorious Easter season: Christ is risen! Jesus is alive!
