Peter changed by Jesus – sermon from 30th July part 2

Peter was an ordinary man. He had a wife and a physically demanding job – fishing.
Peter had sat, walked, and talked with Jesus. He’d seen and participated in Jesus’ miracles. He made mistakes, got told off by Jesus, denied Jesus, and was lovingly reinstated by Jesus on a beach. Later we read in Acts how he, along with the
other apostles, refused to stop telling people about Jesus, and as a result was
threatened and flogged by the religious authorities. Still bleeding, they left
rejoicing, and continued to spread the good news about Jesus. The man
writing these words knew Jesus, and experienced both physical abuse and
social shaming because of his continued witness.
