As you may have guessed, I do love the Psalms! And this coming week you will have no less than two opportunities on Wednesday (20 Sept) to dip with me into what is sometimes known as ‘The Prayer Book of Jesus’:
Praying David’s Psalms: 12.30-1.30pm
At 12.30pm, over a cup of soup, we’ll start a small series looking together at some of the psalms written by King David. (I will lead this week, but in future weeks we’ll have input from Gerry Stacey, John Barber and my friend the Revd Mark Rainsbury.)
The Psalms of Ascents (Pss. 120-134): 5.00-6.15pm
And then at 5.00pm I will lead the first of three monthly Zoom webinars (hosted by John Bouldin) looking at the first five of these wonderful short prayers that were sung by those going up as pilgrims to Jerusalem. (I hope this will involve some international conversation, as I’m joined by co-hosts from the Holy Land, as well as from North America.)
Zoom details will be sent out next week but if you want to hear why I love the biblical theme of going up to Jerusalem, here’s a short video clip.
With love and prayers
Revd Peter
