Advent Cafe Church

Approximately 50 people (roughly divided between adults and children) enjoyed Café Church in the Itchen Abbas Village Hall yesterday afternoon.   Tim Clapp led us in our worship in song (after Alfie Walker created a wonderful atmosphere with his guitar playing at the start) and Sarah Noble spoke passionately about preparing us for Christmas, explaining how the five Advent candles lit in this season each week can represent Hope, Peace, Joy, Love and ultimately Jesus.

The Greig family literally brought light into the darkness with their exceptional craft activity (helping us to remember Jesus as light coming to the world) and Claire Hunt helped us in her prayers to remember the true priorities of the Christmas season.

The gathering was blessed once again with a whole set of cakes and other treats and, as ever, Jude Mezger satisfied hungry appetites with quantities of her delicious hot dogs.   A valiant team in the kitchen worked hard behind the scenes to produce refreshing cups of tea as well as to do all the washing up in a servant-hearted way.   All in all, as one person who joined in the fellowship and fun put it, Café Church ‘definitely feels like family.’   We are already looking forward to our next Café Church on Sunday, 7th January to kick off the New Year.
