We had a great time together on Sunday when we had a full church at St Swithun’s, Martyr Worthy—supporting Mike and Kelly Gibson as they brought their daughter Aoife May to baptism.

Our Gospel passage was suitably all about water—Jesus offering to us all the ‘water of eternal life’ (John 4): here’s the link to the sermon.
Mike and Kelly spoke so appreciatively of the prayerful support they had received from the Itchen Valley parish—especially around the time of Aoife’s premature birth last November.

And there were many in church on Sunday (including Alex and Lucy Pease) who had also been present when Mike and Kelly were married in St Swithun’s on 20 August 2014. So we wish them a very happy 10th Wedding Anniversary!
It’s always a joy to have baptisms taking place in our Sunday services. Aoife was the first of four children being baptised in the coming month: the next will be Chris and Victoria Kennedy’s daughter, Marietta, on Sunday 1 September, when we will be back in St Mary’s, Easton. I look forward to seeing you there!
With love and prayers
Revd Peter
