Christ is our Sun

If you’d like something heart-warming to cheer you up on these dark November days, then it’s possible last Sunday’s sermon might do the trick.

Partly inspired by Wednesday Night Worship earlier in the month, I’d been thinking over recent days about Jesus’ being—in God’s world—the equivalent of what the sun in the sky is in our physical world. He claimed to be the ‘light of the world’ (John 8:12) and, if true, then that means there really is ‘Someone up there’ who can pulsate out light and warmth into lives on a daily basis.

It’d be great if each of us as individuals could receive that light and warmth yet more into our lives this week and then pass it on to others; and, also, if our church community could be a place where the love of Christ was flowing among us more and more day by day.

You’ll find I’ve written on this theme in December’s Itchen Valley News, so perhaps this might even become a talking-point with our friends and neighbours! Wouldn’t it be good if, as we enter the Advent season, the light and warmth of Jesus was spreading out through us across the Valley?

With love and prayers

Revd Peter
