Valley Worship and Ark – 10am this Sunday

We do hope you will be able to attend Valley Worship at 10am this Sunday (12 December) at St Swithun’s, Martyr Worthy.  Whilst we enjoy the service the children will be entertained in the Ark at the Village Hall so please do feel free to drop them there beforehand, where they will be made very welcome.

Previously we mentioned that, during our Valley Worship services over the next few months,  Nicky and John Barber will be speaking on 1 Peter, they will be taking six themes out of the book and delving into them. Because we will not be going through the book week by week,  it would be really helpful if those coming read the whole book before we start as it is quite short – only 5 chapters.  You can read it from this link, and if you weren’t able to join us in previous months you can listen to the talks on the sermons page of our website which can be found here.

If you haven’t got the time to read the full text, Nicky will be speaking on the following verses this Sunday:

1 Peter 1:8-15:

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.

Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do.
