Holy Week
Looking back over our Holy Week and Easter services we have so much to give thanks for. Starting with our Palm Sunday parade and service led by Gerry through Easton.
We then enjoyed three Compline services at the beginning of the week led by Simon Ffennell, John Barber and Gerry at St Swithun’s, Martyr Worthy. Our Maundy Thursday service took place at St John’s, Itchen Abbas where Gerry was able to offer communion by extension.
Our Good Friday Way of the Cross enactment was as usual, very dramatic and moving. Many thanks to all the actors who took part, all the behind the scenes helpers and especially to Sonia Cragg who pulled this powerful event together in a relaxed and efficient way. This is a very special tradition that we hope will continue for many years to come.
The wonderful news of Christ’s rising was shared so powerfully by Revd Roger Simpson who joined us for our joyful Easter Sunday communion service at St Mary’s, Easton. The packed service was led by John Barber and communion was led by Roger’s wife, Revd Ursula. Special thanks to Sarah Noble and her team for planning the Ark for the children. The service culminated in a very fun Easter egg hunt.
The final Easter service was held at St Mary’s, Avington and was a joyous Songs of Praise which was led by Gerry. It is so special for all four of our churches to be filled for these Easter services.
A big thank you to all those who helped in any way to ensure these services go so smoothly, we are so blessed to have such a wonderful community so excited to be spreading the good news.

Annual District Church Meetings
It is the time of year when each church holds their ADCMs prior to the Parish APCM (Annual Parochial Church Meeting) which will this year be held on Thursday 30 April at 7.30pm in St John’s Church, Itchen Abbas. Drinks and nibbles will precede the meeting from 6.30pm – this is always a good time to catch up with friends – please put this date in your diaries as everyone is welcome to attend.
Martyr Worthy’s meeting will be held at 11.30am on Sunday 12th April at St Swithun’s.
Avington’s meeting will be held at 7pm on Monday 13th April at St Mary’s, Avington.
Itchen Abbas’s meeting will be held at 6pm on Wednesday 15th April at St John’s.
