Applications for the position of Rector of the Itchen Valley closed at the end of last month. Six applications were received. The selection panel, which consists of two representatives from the parish, the Area Dean (Phil Collins), the Archdeacon (Michael Harley) and the Lord Chancellor’s representative, has shortlisted three candidates. The newly-appointed Bishop of Basingstoke is taking an active interest in the appointment. The candidates will be visiting the parish towards the end of September and will be interviewed by the panel then. Owing to the formalities involved, however, it will be some time before an appointment can be announced.
