Itchen Valley Parish – Organist
Itchen Valley Parish is a welcoming church family, spread over the four villages of Avington, Easton, Itchen Abbas and Martyr Worthy located between Alresford and Winchester in Hampshire. We have four churches. Our aim is to be at the spiritual heart of the Itchen Valley community, loving God and our neighbours and seeking to deepen and strengthen our relationship with Jesus Christ and to engage in His mission. Please see our website www.itchenvalleychurches.org.uk
Itchen Valley Parish is seeking to employ an organist, as part of its dynamic ministry team.
The organist’s responsibilities will be to play the organ at the two (morning and evening) services each Sunday and at services on Ascension Day, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and preparing music lists in conjunction with the Rector. The churches have three two manual/pedals electronic organs, there is a barrel organ and a one manual and pedals pipe organ.
The organist will be expected to make reasonable efforts to be available to play for weddings and funerals and similar services as required at usual rates for these events.
There is no choir and there would be no requirement to try and develop a choir.
If the organist is unable to fulfil any of their responsibilities, they will be expected to arrange for another organist to play at their expense.
The organist will receive payment of £3300 a year, payable monthly in arrears. This will be paid by bank transfer and subject to the usual deductions.
The organist will be entitled to six weeks paid holiday per calendar year, or pro rata where they join or leave during the calendar year. They are not entitled to any further leave in respect of bank holidays. Any unused holiday may not be transferred to the next year. The parish does not operate a pension scheme.
Please send expressions of interest by email to our Rector Revd. Amanda Denniss amandadenniss@gmail.com telephone number 01962 779832.
