I have realised that walking around the entire parish is just too much for one day! The parish extends from Shroner Wood in the North, to Yavington in the East, to Cheesefoot Head in the South and to Princes Mead in the West. It’s probably the length of a marathon in all! Not that I mind walking that distance, but I will probably not meet anyone on the walk as most of the boundary is in (beautiful) open countryside.
SO I have decided to spend four hours on Tuesday 4th June walking around the villages, walking down each lane, into each close as follows:
0930 starting St John’s Itchen Abbas
1030 starting St Swithun’s Martyr Worthy
1130 starting St Mary’s Easton
1230 starting St Mary’s Avington...maybe ending in the Plough Itchen Abbas….
If you would like to join me on this walk, in which we will be praying for the parish, for the people who live here, for each community and for new people coming to the parish, and in the words of our Thy Kingdom Come prayer on our Prayer Novena bookmark as follows…
‘Father God, please by your Holy Spirit open the hearts of these our friends, neighbours and relations so that they want to join us in worshipping you!’
