Stations of the Cross Ecumenical Service at St Swithun’s Martyr Worthy 2020

Last night the Catholics and Anglicans of Itchen Valley gathered together to walk a Via Dolorosa of prayer and music as we worshipped together at St Swithun’s Martyr Worthy.  We were delighted to welcome so many parishioners from St Peter’s and the Winchester Martyrs Catholic Church and from Itchen Valley Anglican Parish.

We were led in our worship by the Itchen Valley Parish choir led brilliantly by Maj Gen Tim Tyler who sang excerpts from Stainer’s Crucifixion and led us in our singing.  Although Father Mark Hogan was not able to be with us last night the service was led by Deacon Gerard Dailly who so many of us have met while engaging in various projects in Winchester – Street Pastors and Syrian refugees, to name but two.

Thank you so much to all our readers, to those who organised the parking and the church for the evening led by Churchwarden Sara Mason, to Deacon Gerard and especially to Tim Tyler our conductor and our choir: Lucy Pease Jill Croft David Poole Vernon Tottle Jacqui Squire Laura Hanley Chris Ellis Jo Tyler Piers Armstrong Wojtek Rakowicz Madeline Quest-Ritson Steve Percy and Tony Gaster  for the really excellent singing including some amazing solos from Steve and Vernon all accompanied on the organ by Jeffrey Williams.
