Remembrance Sunday 2020 – Zoom Details and Service Sheet

Dear Neighbours,

We are going to be doing Remembrance Sunday rather differently this year.

In Avington Itchen Abbas and Martyr Worthy there will be an Act of Remembrance at 1030.  This will be led by our Licensed Lay Minister Gerry Stacey (Martyr Worthy) and by our Bishops Commission for Missioners Tim Clapp (Itchen Abbas) and Dan Day-Robinson (Avington).  I will lead the Act of Remembrance at Easton and that will begin at 1050.  The Acts of Remembrance will follow the same simple format that we have always used in the past.

If you would like to attend any of these acts of remembrance you need to book in with Beccy Clark on admin@itchenvalleychurches.org.  Please note that your contact details will be retained for track and trace purposes.  If you do wish to attend please only do so if you are willing to be scrupulous about social distancing and wearing masks.  You should only stand next to your own household and at least 2 meters away from anyone else.  Please also do not mingle with others before or after the ceremony. If you would rather not do this please do not attend.  Please also do not attend if you have any of the symptoms of Covid19 which are well known now I think!

Alternatively, you could stand in our doorways at 11am and observe the two minutes silence from there, perhaps listening to Radio 4 broadcast from the cenotaph.

The Royal British Legion and I recorded an Act of Remembrance at Easton today.  We will again be conducting this Act of Remembrance at Easton at 1050 on Sunday but if you would prefer to watch on line the recording will be on zoom from around 1050 at the zoom address given below.

In accordance with government instructions, the Remembrance Service will be broadcast from St Mary’s Easton on zoom from around 1105.  Please do attend on zoom as there is a significant contribution from many in the community and I feel confident that it will be a moving occasion even though conducted on line. The Sung Evensong on Sunday evening has been cancelled.

The zoom details are as follows:

Donating to the Poppy Appeal

Contributing to the Poppy Appeal is a way in which we can recognise our Armed Forces personnel who put themselves in harm’s way so that we can rest peaceably at home. Donations help personnel of all ages that have been injured, fall upon hard times, and provides support to bereaved families. If you would like to donate you can do so from the following link:
