Tier 4 and church attendance

Dear Parishioners,

I hope that you all had a good Christmas in the circumstances and were able to participate either at home on zoom or in the flesh at one of our services over the period.

I am on holiday until 10th January, but I thought I should let you know that after exchange of emails with our PCC Standing Committee and our Parish Ministry Team, I have decided that it is best if we revert entirely to zoom for our services for at least January and possibly for as long as we are under Tier 4 restrictions.

This will mean that although we will continue to lead services from either church or home as has been the practice over the last few months, that it will not be possible for any worshippers to join us in the flesh in the churches.

Its not entirely clear as to whether we completely avoided Covid transmission at our services over Christmas (due to the careful social distancing and other measures that we took) but I have yet to hear of any recent cases of those who were present and so I think we were very blessed indeed to have done so.  However, with hospital ICUs bursting at the seams it just seems to me sensible to restrain ourselves at least for a few weeks.  We can of course continue to worship from home as we engage with our live broadcasts.

I hope that you all have a wonderful new year.  With many blessings for you and your families.

Alex
