It was so good to worship together yesterday. Thank you for all those who helped to give such a warm welcome to Bishop Henry Scriven and his wife, Catherine, for our Parish Communion at St Swithun’s. And it was such a joy to have the children coming across from the Ark to share what they had been learning from the same Bible passage as Bishop Henry had been speaking on—Jesus’ announcing the Good News in Nazareth. We loved their balloons!
In the evening, over 20 of us were able to focus on the same Bible Passage in St John’s, but sitting in a circle and enjoying a Taizé-style service—with periods of silence and prayer interspersed with some beautiful chants. Thanks so much to Gerry Stacey for planning and leading the service.
It was great to meet other Christians who are resident in the Valley, to worship together, and to look head to more such ‘ecumenical’ events in the weeks leading up to Easter.
