Harvest Comes to Itchen Abbas, along with the children!

Harvest arrived at St John’s, Itchen Abbas on Sunday at our All Age Worship service.  We were thrilled to welcome over 20 children and their parents to this service where we focussed on Psalm 65 and the simple message that God makes things grow.  The children had great fun collecting items from the front and working out if they were in the ‘Made by Humans’ team or ‘Created by God’ team – finally realising that even the loaf of bread, tin of soup and bar of chocolate all need God to make the produce grow to create them.

We were delighted to have Mr Bogan, the headteacher read the lesson from Matthew 6:25-33 and some children from Itchen Abbas Primary School with us who led us in two wonderful Harvest Songs that they had been practising and we all enjoyed rocking along to the Harvest Samba!

Each child was given a bag with seeds and a planting kit to take away and remember the message that Revd Peter had spoken about.

The children return to the Church today for their Harvest service which they will take part in and their parents will watch.

Thank you to everyone who helped decorate the church so beautifully.
